Chester is the perfect paddock pet!
Chester has been in HUHA’s care in some form or the other for over 10 years. He was a failed standard bred and was rescued from the DT truck, where it was hoped he was able to be retrained as an eventer. But with a dickie shoulder he was unable to stay sound so was sent from his home in Christchurch to HUHA in Upper Hutt. He spent the next few years having a great time working with kids until he moved up to HUHA Otaki where he has been keeping his harem of mares in order until he was rehomed in 2016. That didn’t work out long term so, by no fault of his own, he’s back with us.
Chester is great to have around the paddock- he keeps a bit of order and was a great uncle to many Kaimanawa babies. He could be very lightly ridden but ideally just to go as a perfect paddock pet.
