As well as being a much-loved part of the HUHA Kaitoke family, where Punga lives, he also has a couple of relatives here with him. Punga’s Mum, Pixie , and his sister Fern also live at Kaitoke and as well as living a safe and happy life out in the fields, telling jokes and galloping about, they also enjoy being part of a trusted group of horses that help us with our educational programme for visiting children.
Punga is a very beautiful boy. He was lucky. His mother (you can read about her story here) came from a neglectful home and was depressed and unwell when she carried Punga. But luckily, she was brought home by HUHA and in spite of her stress, she gave birth to this beautiful happy boy. Pixie’s life turned around for the better and Punga will never know anything but love. Something life-loving and beautiful can come out of hard times and this wee family is certainly a great example of that.
